False Assumptions About Greek Life (2)

5. We’re all the same.

There is diversity everywhere. We accept anyone of any kind. We’re all human and we’re all different. We’d be pretty boring if we only accepted those who are all the same..

4. We all haze.

This is nothing to joke about. So many of us are against hazing. The only side of us you hear from the media is when a Greek group hazes, but do they ever talk about the majority of us who are against it and have set up rules of preventing it? No.

3. Greek Life doesn’t benefit you in the future. It’s just a college thing.

Connections. It’s all about who you know. Being in Greek Life benefits us in the future because there are a handful of us that know people who work in certain businesses that could use a hand or two. Also, it looks pretty nice on a résumé if you serve a position in your chapter. It better prepares us for the future.

2. All we value are our looks.

Yeah, we like to make sure we look good some of the time–what’s the big deal? It’s not the only thing we value though. Again, we value education. We value philanthropies, volunteering, families, the future–all that good jazz.

1. We’re all players (sluts, fuckboys)

No. No, no, no, no. Not all of us are like this. Please just get this idea of us out of your minds and stop watching too much movies.

I hope everyone can understand now of what we’re really like and not judge us based on things you see or hear about in the media.
