It’s recruitment season ladies! If you are currently in a sorority think back to that night before the first day of recruitment up until the morning of bid day. So many feelings were brought up through this experience along with questions about the whole idea of joining a sorority. If you’re not in a sorority I’m sure that you’re asking these questions right now and I hope I can help answer them and calm your nerves.
8. Is Sorority life for me?
If you’re reading this, you’re probably on here because you want to or are thinking about rushing. One word of advice I have is to keep an open mind. Being in a sorority in a completely unique experience that may not feel right for everybody, but you will never know until you try! What my mom told me when I was trying to decide if I was going to rush or not was “Go through recruitment. If you like it, great! If not, don’t join.”
7. What if I don’t fit in?
Welcome to college, where it is normal to not fit in. Which makes you fit in (…what?). I, myself, never really fit in but when you’re in a large group you’ll find other girls who “never fit in” and fit in together. This is a true case of all of the lonely people suddenly not lonely anymore!
6. How am I going to pay for it?
The price of chapter dues vary chapter to chapter and house to house. How the dues work also vary. What doesn’t vary though, is that girls don’t want money to prevent you from getting this experience. There is a girl in charge of finances for the chapter that can typically work one on one with girls who need help. Also, it is possible to pay for it yourself. I have many sisters who go to school full time, work part time, and still have time for sorority. And sisters who work will always put in a good word for you to their employers.
