6. Thank you for still knowing me better than anyone, despite the fact that I’m constantly changing.
College just does that to people, I think. Every day you figure something new out about yourself, and by the next time you go home, you’re a slightly different version of yourself. Thanks for putting up with every version.
5. Thank you for listening to me complain.
You are the perfect person to go to with my problems because you know how I work, and you have enough distance from the situation to be impartial. I know you will tell me like it is, but you’ll still be gentle with me.
4. Thank you for only being a little jealous of my new friends.
I know I talk about my big too much and I know it bugs you that sometimes, she hears about things in my life before you do. I wish all of our friends could be mutual, like they were pre-college, but it just doesn’t work that way anymore. We’re both grown ups with lives, and that means new people. But there’s nothing I don’t tell you, and your advice carries just as much weight, if not more. You’ve known me longer, and loved me through more. I won’t forget it.
3. Thank you for believing in me.
When my insecurities are at their greatest, or I’ve just had a really rough week, you’re the first person I go to. You always know what to say to help me see the light at the end of the tunnel.
2. Thank you for the FaceTime dates.
I miss you a stupid amount regardless, but I would miss you so much more if I couldn’t virtually hangout with you. Thanks for answering at random times and making me laugh as much as you do when we’re in the same room.
1. Thank you for sticking it out.
It would have been all too easy for us to drift apart, but we didn’t. You still let me eat your food and call your parents mom and dad, it just happens a lot less frequently now.
